Soldiers Helping Soldiers

The number of Veteran suicides exceeds 10,220 each year, this averages to 28 suicides per day among veterans – these numbers are from the U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Below is a post that a retired Army veteran posted on his Facebook page and has given us permission to re-post it on our Facebook page and our website www.stmichaelsironhorse.org.

The post he made on Facebook (below) is a truly heartfelt cry to fellow veterans who might be in distress and think they have nowhere to turn.  Some of his fellow veterans probably do not feel comfortable talking to a more conventional counselor or going through a formalized program but would be able and want to talk to someone who understands their pain and fears.

We here at St. Michael’s provide disabled veterans hunts as one outlet for returning vets or disabled veterans to come and relax and feel safe doing an activity they love, and doing this activity with fellow veterans that they can relate to and bond with in a relaxed atmosphere.

We also would like to try and connect any veteran or returning service men/women with people we have made contact with whether it is with a veteran’s organization we have developed ties with or participants of our events who might be able to help.  We have established a page on our website that will link you to one of our people who will try and connect you with the appropriate help.

Please understand that in no way would we ever try to counsel someone with issues they might be having, we are not trained to do that.  We would try our best to get them in touch with the appropriate help they might need.

Please if you know of anyone that might benefit from this post, or if you believe this information needs to be shared, please share it with as many people as you can.

"It seems like I have to say this again. I will keep saying it because it's the truth down to my core. I love you. If you're seeing this post, know that I am available for you anytime day or night. There is a saying on a shirt that I love and wear. "In your darkest hours when the demons come, call on me Brother and WE WILL FIGHT THEM TOGETHER!".  You will never put me and my family out. I post my phone number because I want you to use it. Once you dial my number and I pick up just know that you have entered a judge free zone. Please, I'm begging you. Don't fight alone. If you and I can't beat the demons together, I know a shit ton of pipe swingers that are more than happy to help. I'm tired of seeing you defeated.
