Feeding the hungry

When St. Michael’s was founded in 2013 by Executive Director Justin Kane, he envisioned the potential for Iron Horse Farms (home to St. Michael’s) as a rich land of resources for those in need. Along with the free veterans wildlife retreats that St. Michael’s hosts each year, we grow (in collaboration with Iron Horse Farms) thousands of pounds of seasonal fruits and veggies each summer.

The majority of produce that grows in our single acre plot is harvested and donated to a number of Central Alabama charities that feed and house those in need.

Our Food Partners

We’ve developed a number of fruitful relationships with Central Alabama charities that feed and house those in need. We enjoy getting to work with these organizations as their programs to help people deeply align with our mission as a charitable organization. We partner with the Edmundite Missions of Selma, the Brother Bryan Mission, and the Jimmie Hale Mission (both located in Birmingham) who all work tirelessly to provide access to nourishing meals for everyone.

If you’d like to support our feeding those who need healthier and accessible food options, please considering donating to us today.
